Pittacus Lore is the credited author of the popular young adult sci-fi series 'Lorien Legacies,' but is actually the pseudonym for author James Frey.

In 2003, Frey gained notoriety with the publication of his memoir 'A Million Little Pieces,' which told a heart-wrenching tale of alcohol addiction, drug abuse, and redemption. Scandal ensued when it was revealed that parts of this memoir may have been fabricated or exaggerated, but Frey has since has success with three other best-selling titles.

The first two books in the series were also co-written by Jobie Hughes, but Frey and Hughes severed their partnership shortly after finishing the second book, citing creative differences as the reason for the split. Hughes will not contribute to any of the remaining books in the Lorien Legacies series, but Frey will continue to publish under the pseudonym.

Author's Comment: When you have lost hope, you have lost everything. And when you think all is lost, when all is dire and bleak, there is always hope.
